Main features:

  • An online database and document repository with serial numbers, configurations, documentation, installation status, connected devices, routing, etc.
  • A PDA interface technicians use to read cable labels, get the information against which they install or control them, and update data.
  • A web interface to search, report or export data.
  • Bulk data update using upload scripts.

Quick overview:

When one designs a new cable, the Electronics Section creates a provisional cable Id in CableDB with all information. They will then track the cable status – whether it has been ordered, received, rejected or authorized for installation, properly installed, tested and finally approved –, to take proper actions.

Cable Configuration Status = SRD – Sample requested
