Storage service
What is it?
Storage is an on line service providing data storage space on client servers to CELLS users, groups and other services.
Main features:
- Central storage capacity: up to 30 TB , 950 TB in 2011.
- Performance: 1Gbps up to 10Gbps to clients, 4Gbps in the storage area network.
- At discretion user and group storages. There are no set limits although we may ask you to clean data.
- Data integrity: RAID5, daily backups to tape libraries.
- Personal SMB recycle bins for Windows users only. Files deleted from z: drive are automatically copied in .recyclebin.
- File sharing system: SMB (Widows, Linux and Mac) and NFS (Linux)
How to access storage drives:
From Windows computers:
- Log in with your CELLS domain account:
- From My Computer:
- z:\ - your personal network drive ( \\storage\home\ )
- y:\ - your division network drive on y:
- s:\ - links to all CELLS storage shares ( \\storage\links2shares )
- To access any CELLS share from Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer!) address bar type
\\storage\links2shares
in the address bar, and choose a shared folder.
From Linux computers:
- Logging with your CELLS account, your personal storage space is your user default folder /home/your_username.
- To access any CELLS share, from any file manager (Konqueror, Dolphin, etc.), type smb://storage00/, and choose a shared folder.
From Mac OS computers
- To access any CELLS share, from Finder:
- Press cmd+K or go to menu Go, Connect to server,
- Type smb://storage00/ and click Connect,
- Fill your username and password when asked, Choose a share folder
