OpenLDAP Central Authentication, Authorization and Accounting

What is it?

OpenLDAP central AAA is a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol service providing a IT resources security and a record of user activity by identifying who the user is (authentication), what the user can access (authorization), and what services and resources the user is using (accounting).

This service is used by all CELLS servers and applications as a central database holding all users data. It allows CELLS users and groups to use a single UserID and password for all CELLS applications, except to access CELLS intranet where a different password can be set for better security.
