Input Output Controllers - IOCs

What is it?

Computing System team provides system administration for Input Output Controllers (IOCs), the set of industrial computers and CompactPCI crates that controls the accelerators and beamlines.

Main Features:

  • Operating system installation, maintenance and support. Our reference OS at the moment is openSUSE 11.1, but a different OS can be installed on request.
  • Configuration of Tango and the basic environment needed for the Control system (Sicilia).
  • Configuration of diskless IOCs which boot an OS image (ramdisk+NFS) from the network and do not require a hard drive.
  • Maintenance of the diskless OS image with all the software required by the Control system.
  • Installation of drivers for PCI/cPCI hardware cards (DAQ, ADC, multiplexers, etc...).
