Power Supplies Control System
What is it?
A synchrotron is a particular type of cyclic particle accelerator in which the magnetic field (to turn the particles so they circulate) and the electric field (to accelerate the particles) are carefully synchronised with the traveling particle beam.
The Power Supplies Control System provides operators with remote control over 343 power converters that supply the electromagnets in the machine (linac, transferlines, booster and SR). It comprises seven device servers providing a uniform interface to the different power supplies and GUI.
It is used in accelerators to optimize the beam position in the machine, manually via the GUIs or automatically through beam optimizing applications using a TANGO-level interface in the Power Supplies Control Systems. It also provides means to change and manage settings.
