Major Achievement: Accelerator Cabling is Completed

After a full year of intense work, we are pleased to announce that the accelerator cabling installation is completed. More than 30 people took part in the installation of around 6000 equipments and 17500 cables of more than 250 different types, each routed and tested individually. The project is an outstanding success as among the 200km of cables used in the storage ring no problem was detected so far during the commissioning.

Beamlines Installation: 3 out 7 Completed

The setup of the beamlines is progressing fast. PLC programs, cables, Tango and Sardana deployment at the beamlines is leapfrogging. Three of the seven beamlines will be ready to take the beam at the end of the Storage Ring Commissioning. The remaining four are scheduled to be ready by September 2011.

TAU documentation is now online

TAU documentation is now online

The documentation for tau (ALBA's graphical user interface library) is now available online. It contains of both user and developers manuals. A considerable amount of effort has been invested into producing this documentation and now all Tango collaboration institutes (ALBA, ESRF, ELECTTRA, DESY, MAXLAB, SOLEIL) can benefit from both the source code and the full documentation.

Very good feelings regarding the control system in the commissioning of the booster

The booster commissioning has been successfully achieved. The control system fulfilled the specification and run reliably. The controls groups, together with the whole computing division have successfully passed the first “Site acceptance tests” for the control system.
